In cases where extended period of time are spent on the rev limiter or high RPM range, we recommend the use of Bates Engineering oil pump gears. Extended period of time on the rev limiter or at excessively high RPM can cause the diameter of the crank pulley to grow due to interference with the crank keyway. This groth imparts a radial load in the gear which causes a failure. THe use of the upgraded gear eliminates this failure.
